I had to go back to the Great Wall and the Jinshanling to Simatai walk was so great that I decided to go to the same spot. SanGe, or third older brother (this means he is the third oldest child and is an older brother), accompanied me on the walk. He doesn’t speak English, but he is very nice and we were able to communicate well enough. We got a guide to walk with us and that is who you will see in the pictures, as well.

The Great Wall - Jinshanling to Simatai

Yes, I was here...

and so was San Ge!
The next two images give you an idea of the scale of the Great Wall. The first is a close up of SanGe and our guide, the second is the same view pulled back…

Hi Scott,
I have seen your blog and pictrues, you look very awesome in the great wall, hah:)
wish you have a good trip!
Yi
Cool, is that with the 18-200? Nice…
I like the last picture best. It’s the beginning of another week you are in China. And where are you now?
Scott, you’ve seen awesome view of our Great Wall. With this blog, we are travelling with you.
Be safe, be happy!
I am glad to know that you are in Luoyang now. Do you have any local friends with you?
Hi Yi, thanks!
Dennis, yes, it’s the 18-200 lens, but these pics are really cut down. They look a lot better at full resolution.
Haiyan, thanks, it’s nice to know what pictures you like! I don’t have any friends in Luoyang
I went to see the Longmen Shi Ku (Longmen Grottoes for my American friends) earlier and am going to go to the Shaolin temple tomorrow. Then, I’ll fly to Kunming the next day and start the Yunnan part of my trip. I should have a couple posts up within a half hour.
Hi Qiang, I met a calligrapher in Beijing. I’ll talk about it in a couple of posts from now.
Thanks, everybody, for traveling along. It really is nice to hear from you!
Hi Scott, the pics are spectacular. Glad you are going to make it to Shaolin Temple.
