How to read the blog

Hi all,

I will be in China from October 11 (I fly out Friday morning and arrive there late Sunday night) until November 8.

After watching a few people look at the first three posts, I realized that it is not intuitive for many people to find the actual posts. If you’re having this problem, please look at these instructions:

The Front Page

The front page will have “featured posts” show up at the top. On the right side will be the start of the post and a “read more” link. Click on the “read more” link to go to the actual post. If you have a small screen, the picture may take up most of the screen. You will have to scroll down to read the post.

Reading Blog posts

If you just want to look at pictures, you can. If you want to read the posts, here’s how to do that (it is not as intuitive as I would like):

Click on the “Blog” link at the top of the page (to the right of my logo). You will come to a page that looks like a picture gallery. In fact, it CAN work as a picture gallery, OR as links to my posts. The most recent one will be at the top left. If you hover your mouse over it, you’ll see a “read more>>” link at the bottom right of the picture. If you click on it, it will take you to the blog post for that day. If, however, you click on the magnifying glass, it will open up a big version of the picture and by moving your mouse over the picture, you will see left and right arrows appear that will go to big pictures of the other pictures on the blog page.

So remember, to read the posts on the “blog” page, hover over a picture and then click on the “read more>>” link.

Search or use the Calendar in the blog section…

After you click on the “Blog” button at the top of the screen, you will have a Search box and a Calendar on the right side of the page, as ways to select the posts you want to see. These posts will show up as pictures, which you need to hover over and click on the “read more>>” link to get to the post itself. The search will look for any text in the post and the dates which are in bold on the calendar indicate the clicking on that date will get you posts that were uploaded by me that particular day.
